2010 Olympic Hockey Tournament Simply Incredible On So Many Levels

No, I'm not one of these over-caffeinated or over-whatever type of people I've been seeing on Twitter or Facebook over the past couple of weeks with the constant status update written 'chants' of.. "Go USA!!!....USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! Let's Go USA!! Let's Go USA!!!" No, that's not my style to write or chant something over and over and over again until I'm blue in the face (to each their own), but let me say one thing, that Olympic hockey tournament was incredible right down to the last second. One hundred percent, incredible!

The United States played tremendous hockey buoyed by one hell of a goaltender, Ryan Miller. If you hadn't heard much about him as a casual hockey fan before the Olympics, you know him now, and you won't be forgetting his name any time soon, will you? What a performance by Miller in Vancouver. How about Zach Parise? What a dynamic young hockey player to watch.

Could this have ended any better as far as the NHL is concerned? Their posterboy, Sidney Crosby, scoring the winning goal in the gold medal game? Doesn't get any better than that, eh NHL. Shot after shot after shot of Sid's face as he jokes around and laughs, culminating in his singing of 'Oh Canada' with his teammates. Somewhere in a Vancouver pub, hockey's 'bad boy', Alex Ovechkin, licked a body shot of tequila off of a fine Canadian female's midriff and fired the glass across the bar as he watched his rival, Sid 'The Kid', score that game winner. Not to worry Ovie, you're still the best player in hockey, IMO.

Now it's back to the regular NHL schedule. Do we have to? Can't we continue with this fast, crisp passing, hard hitting, talent laden, style of hockey for a little while longer? Please? I guess not. It's back to the watered down NHL. Can the Bruins at least make a trade for a substantial scoring threat by Wednesday's trading deadline to pique my interest? It won't be the same as watching hockey in Vancouver over the past couple of weeks, but I'll take it. I want more hockey to watch now.
