It pains me to do this, it really does. However, I had to step up to the plate and 'asshat' the 2009-10 Boston Bruins on this glorious Asshat Sunday.
When you accomplish something so shitty and something that's only been done THREE times in the HISTORY of professional sports, you leave me no choice (being up 3-0 in best of seven and proceeding to lose four games straight and lose the series).
Now, after game seven concluded the other night, I had some people on Twitter as well as a few people yesterday call me a Boston 'homer' of sorts for defending this team & looking forward---in big way--- to the future. I could give a shit less what people think of me, to tell you the truth. In the words of the immortal Eminem, " I am whatever you say I am"...You see, I never expected this team to get by Buffalo in the first round of these playoffs, without Marc Savard. Even before this season started while all of the 'experts' with hockey mullets were predicting a deep playoff run and potential Stanley Cup appearance, I just didn't see it. I never saw it throughout this whole season. Yes, they blew a golden opportunity to take on the hated Canadiens and the Eastern Conference Finals. I just thought that after this team beat Buffalo, anything further was just icing on the cake.
I had to put my optimism aside today though and do what had to be done. I had to Asshat these guys. All they had to do was steal one game out of the last four in this series, for Christ sakes. Shit, you could've thrown me and the geriatric touring New Kids On The Block on the ice and we would've found a way to hang tough and steal one goddamn game. One game!
