Belichick Won't Admit It, But This One Has Special Meaning Tonight Against New Orleans
November 30th 2009 14:02
These numbers are all cute to Darth Vader, aka 'Billy Belichick'...
Through ten games in comparing the 2007 New England Patriots and 2009 New Orleans Saints...
TD's: Pats (54).....Saints (48)
Points per game: Pats (41.1).....Saints (36.9)
Yards per game: Pats (437).....Saints (420.5)
Cute numbers huh Bill? Hell, the Saints might even exceed the Pats in one or two of these categories at the end of the season and go down as the most prolific offense in NFL history.
Bill Belichick will sit there as non-charismatic and monotone as can be and tell all of us and the media how 'great a football team' this Saints team is in 2009. He'll tell everyone about their record setting pace and on down the line. It'll be a complete festival of love shown by Darth Vader. Then, someone might ask Billy, 'Oh, and coach, how special would it be to beat the Saints since they are 10-0 and going after your 2007 undefeated season with a vengeance?' Bill will then spew out the ole, 'like I said, they're a great football team here in New Orleans, they do a lot of things well and haven't lost a game but we don't really get caught up in all of that stuff here. They're the next game on the schedule. That, my friends is where I call semi bullshit on Coach Billy. That is the one number/record Billy does in fact find 'non-cute' and something he does care about putting an end to when the Pats and Saints hookup tonight. Yes, he wants a win and beating New Orleans on the road will be a huge accomplishment in itself, but there's more involved.
Billy B knows just what is on the line tonight. He and his team can end the Saints attempt to win their last six games and match the Pats and their undefeated 2007 season, and he wants to do just that...badly! He can spew all the praise in the world on New Orleans and he can tell us all that he doesn't get caught up in records blah.. blah.. blah.. Tonight when Darth Vader and the Patriots take the field, he wants to rip the heart out of Sean Payton and the Saints, and he knows exactly what is on the line for the Saints. He loves it! There is nothing that would please Billy B more than to walk up to Sean Payton at midfield-- after putting an end to their 16-0 quest-- and give him his best Ari Gold impersonation... 'You wanna hug it out, bitch?' Bill can then get on a plane with his own 'Entourage' and head back to New England and tell us all, in his monotone, Darth Vader voice..... 'It was a good win. We did what we had to do. I'm proud of the team and how they performed in adversity on the road. Good road win. Nothing more, nothing less. On to the Dolphins.' That's cool coach, we know... we know. You have a reputation to protect. Understood.
Chuck
