His career has gone all ... the ... way ... to Canton.
ESPN's Chris Berman was named the 2010 recipient of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award on Monday.
"I embraced pro football a long time ago," Berman said in a statement. "I'm honored and humbled beyond belief, that pro football in turn, has embraced me."
He will receive the award on Aug. 6 during the Enshrines Dinner, where the Class of 2010 (Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith) will receive their Hall of Fame gold jackets.

I mean this with the utmost of respect, Chris, and I do congratulate you for receiving this prestigious award. But does this mean you will go away now? Ride off into the sunset and never be heard from again?

Somehow you now reside in the company of Curt Gowdy, Pat Summerall and other great honorees of this award. I can’t hate on you for that feat, but how did this happen? Have standards been lowered?
I shit you not when I say, I can not listen to this guy anymore. His act is so old and tired. Not to mention, when was he ever great? When he first came out with his shtick, it was mildly amusing, but now he has become a complete caricature of himself.
Again, it’s just a matter of opinion, I know Berman has many fans. Chris Berman doesn't give two shits what you or I think about him, nor should he. He should be proud of his accomplishment.
Let me break it down the best I can to show where I’m coming from… There’s a Daniel Bard fastball, a less than impressive Tim Wakefield fastball, & then there’s the really soft stale Chris Berman cheese that hasn’t been able to shatter a low end piece of glass for many, many years, if ever.
