England Football Friendlies - YAWN!!
June 2nd 2008 23:13
There is no better advert for cricket than watching England international football friendlies!
They are always so dull!
There is no meaning to the match and the managers always use so many subsitutes that any flow to the game disappears.
They also develop a ridiculously false sense of how good the team is - winning these friendlies never translates into tournament success.
In my view they are a waste of time, and I can hardly bear to watch them now, in fact if I miss them it is no skin off my nose!

Because clearly you just don't get it.

The importance of building a team is clear, but my point is that in England friendlies, the first half is the full strength theam, so nothing is learnt by that.
Thenm the 2nd half is a wasted opportunity because too many subs are used, not enough time for the individuals to shine, and not enough time for the team to gel either.
So my argument is that the opportunity is not used properly.
The comment about any football match being a good advert for cricket is a common joke amongst sports fans by the way!
