ESPN 3D Launching In June...HD We Hardly Knew Thee

ESPN is going 3D. The venerable sports network will launch ESPN 3D on June 11 with a World Cup soccer match, creating what it says will be the first all three-dimensional television network to the home.
Among other events planned for 3D broadcast: the Summer X Games (extreme sports), NBA games, college basketball and college football.
You know that camera chip that's buried right in front of the batters box and shoots up on the batter from the dirt? I refer to it as the Fox 'Crotch Cam.' It is the most useless camera I've ever seen, yet Fox keeps rolling it out every year and drooling over it while we watch wondering what purpose it serves.
Well, those days are over very soon with the ESPN launching of a 3-D network. Can you believe this news? Really, can you? Soon you will be sitting there with your set of 3-D goggles on and as Big Papi claps his hands together and hocks a long and juicy looey, you'll instinctively duck or move to the side to avoid getting hit with some of #34's saliva as you eat your Tostitos and Papi salsa. I mean, think about how great this will be for the Tommy Brady worshiping men of New England who haven't quite grown up yet and still live in Mama's basement, but when she has this technology up in the living room, they'll come up to watch. 'Ok Tommy, I'm right behind you on this QB sneak, lets get in the end zone Tommy! I'll give you a push Tommy! The ref won't see me, I'm invisible!!! Woooeeey!!' This is how it's supposed to make it seem when you are watching in 3-D. For example, you are actually behind a receiver as he catches a long pass and you see what he sees at field level as he is running toward the end zone.
This all is an amazing breakthrough, I can't deny it. I honestly look forward to seeing it. These TV's are being shown off this week in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show. I mean, almost everyone has an HD TV now, right? The prices have come way down since I bought mine 5 years ago. Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and all the rest need you to step up your game and buy something else now! It's the natural cycle of life among these manufacturers and their products. Bigger and better is always right around the corner. It's amazing how far we've come. Truly amazing.
