JOHANNESBURG (AP) -- FIFA has lined up international music stars Alicia Keys, Shakira, Black Eyed Peas and John Legend for a World Cup concert in Johannesburg on June 10, the day before the opening match.
See that, Goodell & NFL Marketing Peeps? Go call FIFA Prez, Sepp Blatter, and his FIFA Marketing Peeps and see how they pulled this off. I effin hate futbol, however I’m always looking to give credit where credit is due.
If I want to hear the CSI-Vegas theme song by The Who while I’m having my 10th beer and sloppily sucking down chicken wings at halftime of the Super Bowl until buffalo sauce is smeared all over my drunk face, I’ll cue up an episode of CSI on the ole DVR.
I could easily do without, John Legend, but you’ve knocked it out of the proverbial park with the rest of your roster, Sepp. World Cup opening ceremonies got it goin on! Nice effin work, people. Kudos from Beantown!!

BTW: This talent for the concert will not cost FIFA a dime. All they do is take money in for the World Cup, which is the single largest money making sporting event in the world - followed by the World Track & Field Championships, then the Olympics. (Sorry - Bro, the Super Bowl is further down the list behind European Nations Football Championships and the Champions League Final).
FIFA doesn't even put up any prize money - just a trophy. I wonder how many NFL stars would strap it on for just a trophy

On another note Joey, Michelle and I just found out yesterday that our baby being born in late July/early August, is a girl... I won't stand in her way if she wants to play a little futbol.

Huge congrats on the upcoming addition to the Hanf household. A little girl - wow! You realize that will begin hating all men in about 14 years. I am certain that her older bros will keep a watchful eye on her, though.
Give my best to Michelle. I'm really happy for you both!

When Euroweenies stop falling down and crying like little bitches because somebody pulled their hair, we can take another look at it. The most aggro part of this sport being the fans who tend to kill each other and riot. If they televised the riots and the "match" was the precursor to the main event it would be much more intriguing.
Anyway I was wondering if the NFL is so intent on having a musical act that covers a broad spectrum and is highly mainstream, wouldn't AC/DC make sense? I mean I love the Who and I know that AC/DC are no spring chickens but they certainly can still tear it up from what I have seen in more recent concert clips. And hey only ONE of their band members is dead!
I mean think about the gladiatorial rock anthem starting off before the greatest gladiator battle in modern history.
STAND UP AND BE COUNTED
FOR WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO RECEIVE!
Hell if the Patriots make it back to the "Big Game" they could use their own cannons...
"For those about to rock...
FIRE
Just a suggestion.
Oh and for all you BBWs (Beckham Ball Washers) who might reply with your love for a really great header, proclaiming my ingorance and closed-mindedness, check out this little Youtube clip. Plenty of Euro flave but definitely a sport with more, ummm spleen (sometimes literally).
