Now, you can call me a roughneck asshole or whatever you like, I don’t really care anyway… but this right here is the type of shit that warms the cockles of my cold heart.
Good ole Gordie teaching toughness on the ice---back in the day--- by knocking the piss out of an 8 year old in order to convey the importance of keeping your head on a swivel when playing the great game of hockey.
In an age where pussy basketball players are wearing padded suits under their uniforms so they don't get scratched or slightly bruised….(see below)
as well as baseball players wearing more armor than a soldier in Iraq when stepping up to the plate these days…. a story like this is what it’s all about.
These are not examples of toughness for our young children to look up to. Larry Bird looks at that padded body suit while pounding his tenth Miller Lite of this young Good Friday afternoon and is incensed. D.J. looks down from the heavens and shakes his head.
Good for you Gordie. I’m sure he learned his friggin lesson. He turned out to be pretty successful, eh? Good ole fashioned toughness.
The pussification of sports has really begun to rub my grouchy ass the wrong way.
