Hey Beantown Chowdaheads...It's Carlos Quintana...Remember Me??
January 6th 2010 19:44
Right after Nick Esasky and right before Mo ‘Foxy Lady’ Vaughn, there was a slightly chubby Venezuelan by the name of Carlos Quintana manning 1st Base for the Red Sox. Do you remember ole Carlos?
His best statistical year probably came in 1991 when he hit .295 with 11 homers and 71 batted in for the Sox.
Then in 1992, we had a little shootout/car accident incident. Quintana was involved in a car accident while rushing his two brothers to the hospital in Venezuela. His brothers had been shot and Quintana ended up breaking his arm in the car accident. There were all sorts of reports being relayed back to Boston on this situation. There was some suspected yet unconfirmed shooting going on by people in Quintana’s car as well as the car who they had the dispute with---on the way to the hospital---like an old friggin Western, only John Wayne wasn’t in this one. Quintana missed the whole ’92 season and quite frankly was never the same afterward. My man Mo took over the 1st base duties in ’93 and The Big Q was never really heard of again.
Hope all is well dude. E-mail the site and let me know what’s up.
