Hey Beantown Chowdaheads...It's Jody Reed...Remember Me??

"Now batting..........Jody Reed..........Second baseman..........Reed."
Can't you still hear good ole Sherm Feller with the 'full name/position/last name intro as the batter approached the dish?
Jody Reed played for the Red Sox between 1987 and 1992. All 5'9'' and 165 pounds of him. He was a doubles machine while here in Beantown, which speaks volumes considering his small stature. In the six years he was here, he hit 40 doubles 3 times. Reed loved playing Wall Ball, peppering balls off of the Monster.
His best season probably came in 1989 when he hit .289 with 5 HR's and 51 RBI, while pumping out a league leading 45 doubles. He also had a .371 OBP in '89. Honestly, he was very consistent until his last season in '92. You knew what you were going to get out of #3.
Reed was a damn good defensive player, but his limited arm strength caused the team to move him from shortstop to second base in 1990.
So J-Reed, what have you been up to? Last I heard you were living in Tampa and were manager of the Gulf Coast Yankees. Shoot me an e-mail at the site and let me know what's up. Smitty & I would love to take you for a brewski.
( Check out all of Reed's stats on Baseball Reference )
