Hey Beantown Chowdaheads...It's Phil Plantier...Remember Me??

March 26th 2010 13:00
Phil Plantier,Boston Red Sox

Phil used to literally almost have his asscheeks hitting the dirt of the batters box when he was up at the dish. For sure, one of the oddest stances I’ve ever witnessed.

Man, P-Squared had some might high expectations put on him in Beantown. Let’s review the resume…

His best year, while he was in Boston, came in 1991. He finished 8th in the A.L. Rookie of the Year voting and put up a .331 avg/ 11 HR’s/ 33 RBI season with a 1.034 OPS. Yes, he only had 174 plate appearances, but he got off to a nice start, you have to say.

Well, that was about it for Phil.

He was traded to San Diego in December of ’92 for the immortal, Jose Melendez.

Plantier had 34 bombs & 100 steaks in ’93 for San Diego but only hit .240. It was pretty much over and out from that point on after toiling for a couple more clubs.

So, Phil, what have you been up to? Shoot me an e-mail at the site. Smitty & I would love to take you for a brewski or three.
