Hey Beantown Chowdaheads...It's Tony Armas...Remember Me??

Antonio Rafael Armas Machado…how's it hangin' my man?
I remember being a young whipper-snapper hangin out down by the Green Monster in those upper loge box seats with the ole man and my mother (sorry Dad, can’t call her ole lady, just wouldn’t be right) and Armas scorched a foul ball our way during BP. I think my ole man threw an elderly guy an elbow and knocked him on his ass in his effort to grab the ball. Good job, Dad. You got it, remember?
Now…..onto Mr. Armas. Tony could drop some bombs into the ole net at Fenway. Yes, I said ‘net’ for all you yutes (as Joe Pesci would say) who don’t remember life before the Monstah Seats.
Tony dropped 113 bombs during his four year tenure in Beantown. His best year coming in 1983 when he dropped 43 and had 123 steaks. (I’ve gotten a couple e-mails at the site asking WTF a ‘steak’ is…C’mon people, steak = rib-eye which in turn = RBI’s in my world)
So Tony, what have you been up to? Shoot me an e-mail at the site. Smitty & I would love to take you for a brewski or three.
Chuck
