I was scanning through The Big Lead’s piece on unruly incidents in Philly sports fan history yesterday and there were a few beauties, but the all time worst had to be the fans that were throwing batteries at J.D. Drew back in 1999.
Now, in Boston, I’ve personally seen two little putz pieces of turd throw full plastic Coke bottles in the direction of Paul O’Neill from the first row in the right field corner during a Red Sox/Yankee playoff series & then WBCN got them on the radio and paid for their tickets to the next game…..but batteries? Now that takes a special kind of barbaric buffoon. Especially when whipping a Duracell while a great distance away from your target & actually trying to hit the guy. Little pissed off ole J.D. pulled a diva act and wouldn’t sign with your team after he was drafted? Break out the D-Batteries, bitches. This prima donna pays tonight.
I mean, couldn’t they have just tasered his ass like security did to this 17 year old mensa member the other night? Maybe it would’ve rattled J.D’s cage a little and we’d actually see a slight tick of emotion out of his ‘aw shucks’ lethargic ass every now and then.
