Anyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I'm a fan of Derek Jeter---and have taken a lot of shit for it--- but this crosses the line. This is complete BS.
First off anyone who thinks Jeter is a Gold Glove caliber shortstop right now is flat out 'off their rocker' as they say. It's ridiculous. Immediately, Erik Aybar from the Angels comes to mind as a guy that should've won this award, but I know I can find others who are much more worthy than Jeter. Aybar's fielding% (which is overrated for judging gold glove caliber anyway) was .983 compared to Jeter's .986 BUT he gets to so many more balls than Jeter due to his range. It's not even close...
Then we move on to the Hank Aaron Award that Jetes took home to his mantle as well. The Aaron Award is given to the 'Top Offensive Performer' in the AL and NL and is voted on by the fans unlike the Gold Glove Awards. One name and one name only.... JOE MAUER. Wake the hell up fans and lets bring some clear thinking to the table. See below..
Derek Jeter----- . 334-18-66 with a .871 OPS
Joe Mauer----- .365-28-96 with a 1.031 OPS
That's about it folks. Joe, you win the A.L. TCFB Chuck Hanf Award for 2009. Yes, it's a little less prestigious than ole Hank's Award, but you deserve something for being outright robbed.

Unfortunately, these awards are given out after the World Series, and Jeter played great. Mauer didn't help his team very much against the Yanks.
The awards should be given out, along with the MVP, after the last regular season game, and no fan should be allowed to vote for them; there are too many people who are Yank fans living in New York City.

I don't think Joe is going to be feeling too bad though if he is coming home to Chelsea Cooley on his mantle as opposed to the Hank Aaron award. Whoa!
