(AP) PITTSBURGH -- Linebacker LaMarr Woodley predicts the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals will "lay down" for their virtually meaningless games on Sunday because they don't want the Super Bowl champion Steelers in the playoffs.
The Steelers (8-7), losers of five of seven, would make it in if they beat Miami, the Patriots defeat Houston, and the Bengals beat the New York Jets.
There are other combinations in which Pittsburgh could sneak in, but it's unlikely the Steelers would make it unless New England wins.
Now it’s Lamarr Woodley? What is it when it comes to Pittsburgh Steelers players and their mindless statements? Lamar, shut your pie-hole and realize that there’s a reason you are 8-7 heading into the last week of the season. It’s because you’re team is not that good. As an old famous coach around these parts used to say, ‘you are who you are.’ Yes, you have injuries, wah…wah...wah! Bottom line, you’re not that good. Yet, the New England Patriots are going to ‘lay down’ this week because they ‘fear’ the high and mighty Pittsburgh Steelers coming into their house? Are you concussed, son? Once again, you’re not that good. Our golden boy HOF QB, Tommy Bundchen, is being held together by safety pins right now. I could care less if we lay down. We aren’t going for any sort of history like the Colts were when they bungled their chance at perfection.
Whoever wins the ‘team MVP’ award for you Terrible Towel sideline waving tools, should instantly turn around and hand it to the real MVP, Troy Polamalu, at the team break-up dinner. Since he’s been out of commission, it has become so abundantly clear that he is far and away the MVP of that team. When he went down, so did the Steelers Ship & it took down my AFC Championship prediction (Pats/Steelers) along with it. Goddamn it, I wanted that game!
There’s always next year Lamarr, and just in case a miraculous act of God occurs and you do make it into the ‘tournament’ this year, the team of the decade will be waiting for you.
