Ole Miss' Dexter McCluster Could Be Young Offensive Weapon The Patriots Need
January 28th 2010 12:55
I was checking out a piece by Ben Volin from the Palm Beach Post that featured NFL Network Draft Analyst, Mike Mayock, and his take on the top prospects down at the Senior Bowl.
Out of the four picks in the first two rounds of the draft, I've stated that I want at least two linebackers chosen by Billy Belichick. However, this team needs a shot in the ass on the offensive side of the ball as well. You know, a guy who could be the Kevin Faulk and then some of the future, NOW. A talented, multi-faceted 'jack of all trades' type of football player. If the description by Maycock of Dexter McCluster didn't seem to fit the description of the Patriots type of player, I don't know what does.....I'm now intrigued. He's projected to be a second round pick. Goddamn it, the Super Bowl hasn't even arrived and I can't wait for the draft. It's officially speculation season in New England!
Here's Mayock's take:
Dexter McCluster, Ole Miss RB/WR: “The guy that just really intrigues me is McCluster. I couldn’t wait to come down here and watch him. His toughness in the SEC, at the tailback position, blew me away at 165 pounds. Then he comes out here at receiver today, and double moves, catches the ball, plucks it out of the air. The two best catches of the day were his, and to me he’s an instant mismatch problem. I don’t care what you do with him, just put him on the field and he’ll make plays.”
I still want 3 defensive players out of those first 4 picks, Darth Vader Billy. Don't forget that.....I'm just not ruling out one offensive weapon who can spark this offense with his various talents.....Is Dexter that guy?
