WASHINGTON - A Washington Post promotion for a free poster of Washington National's phenom Stephen Strasburg's first pitch has drawn the ire of some WTOP listeners.
The promotion says that the poster is only available in the Sunday copy of the Washington Post sold at retail locations, and that subscribers will have to specifically request the poster, and wait for two to three weeks for delivery.
Callers to the WTOP Talkback line were incensed that the poster was not being sent to them along with their regular paper.
"I think the Washington Post really missed it on this one," says Melissa. "There's no reward for loyalty on most things, and here's something that they could have just so simply done, offered it to all the home subscribers and they would have had customers continue for a long time."
Now if this isn’t reeking of a pack of Washington tools that haven’t gotten out of their Mama’s basements quite yet then I don’t know what to call it.
“Oh my Gosh! I mean, like, damn dude, can you believe the Post didn’t take care of us and give us the free Strasburg poster?!? We are subscribers!! I LOVE him!!!”

You can frame the cover of Sports Illustrated this week when Daddy’s issue comes in the mail. Just steal it from the mailbox before Dad gets home. That redneck Strasburg is the cover boy this week. That should hold you over until you order up your freebie from the Washington Post & run to the mailbox each day like Ralphie from A Christmas Story waiting for his Orphan Annie Secret Society decoder pin.
