Please Don't Become 'Raiders East'...Please!

With the outright release of Michael Vick from the Falcons, rumors are flying about his next NFL destination. New England is being mentioned in multiple articles across the internet as a "perfect" destination for a guy like Vick--who needs a character boost--after his whole disgraceful episode with dog fighting and his subsequent arrest for it all. New England is all of a sudden the place you come when you need a character boost and want to refresh your image.
I am issuing a plea to Robert Kraft and the sleeveless wonder--Bill Belichick-- to please not bring this man to New England. This is the same organization that basically ate a high end draft choice in Christian Peter, from Nebraska, years ago because of his questionable character issues while at the school. Then the Patriots won their first Superbowl against the Rams and somehow they started feeling like taking some chances on guys like Corey Dillon who had some character issues with his former team in Cincinatti as well as while he was in college. Dillon's rap sheet was well documented and he had ten times worse of a reputation than that of someone like Randy Moss--of that there is no question. The knock on Moss was that he was so tired of losing in Oakland that he started taking some plays off and wasn't making much of a difference. In my opinion, try taking a look at some of the quarterbacking he had and the overall horrendous talent base around him. A receiver--even of Moss' ability--can only do so much on a bad team. That being said, there were character questions surrounding Moss, and a lot of people didn't quite understand how an organization that seemed to hold their players' character in very high regard now felt like they could start rehabbing the images of some. Kraft took a stand with a young kid like Peter and snuffed him out. He admitted he didn't fully research the characer issues that came with him and he never played a down of football in New England. It seemed like winning made it OK for Kraft to be persuaded to take some chances on some questionable men. Dillon won a championship in his first season as a Patriot and he had an unbelievable season. Moss has been incredible since arriving in New England. He is refreshed and playing like he did back in the Minnesota years with Chris Carter and a young up and coming QB named Duante Culpepper.
Belichick is developing a reputation of someone who would sell his soul to the devil if it meant winning more titles. I won't take it that far. I don't believe that is the case. With winning, comes the opportunity to take on some questionable players because you now have the cache and swagger of a champion. I understand that fact. I don't fully understand how an owner like Kraft can flip flop in regard to his views on the subject but that's another story. He's one of the best owners in professional sports today. If you're him, who gives a damn what someone like me thinks. He's earned the right to change his view on some things if he wants to---I guess. Along with the fact that the Patriots always have had high character leaders in that locker room such as the Brady's, Vrabel's, Bruschi's and Troy Brown's of the world-- the thought was anyone and everyone that they brought in would just fall in line because of the leadership and high character personality of the team. Thus far, it's worked. Everyone has fallen in line and focused themselves on winning titles. It's a lot easier to keep yourself in line when you don't usually lose more than 3 or 4 games per season. True character is judged in the bad times. That's when a man's character shines through if you ask me.
With Michael Vick though, a line has to be drawn in the sand. We don't need the media circus and distraction that this man is going to bring to whatever city he plays in next. We don't need the demonstrations outside of Gillette Stadium from all the activist groups that are going to want to tear into Vick. New England has an unbelievably talented and likable team in house right now. Let's let the Al Davis' of the world put in their bids for Vick. I am all for giving someone who has done their time for a crime, another chance. New England just flat out doesn't need him--and all that comes with him-- around.

He turns the worst so called individual into an honest character? Wrong, if they were losing.. they'd still be the worst so called individuals. Winning causes a lot of bad characters to become good soldiers. It's all to do with the winning. Nothing to with "Belicheat" as you call him being some sort of guidance counselor. He just knows how to win. The minute they start losing again. all the worst character guys will be back. Winning cures everything. Never had a gripe with Vick's work ethic. He always played hard whenever I saw him play. The Pats are just too good right now for any potential sideshows to get them off track. Read the post and see where I said that I'm all for guys getting a second shot after doing their time. Doesn't mean I have to think that the Pats need him "Buddy". Thanks for the comments and thanks for reading. Take care.

I have no idea what you mean in your comment overall but as far as "Football needs guys like Michael Vick? "Why? Have you looked at the money the NFL brings in regardless? They don't need Michael Vick or Tom Brady or Peyton Manning for that matter. Football is going to be widely popular anyway. Everyone's replaceable.

But like i said, this is Jerry Jones right now standing in front of the TV like he's at a crap table shaking dice-- (come oooon come on-baby needs new shoes, my car needs new breaks, my wife needs her nails done -AND I NEED MICHEAL VICK!!!!!) On that team , CRAP OUT- way to much drama in Dallas for Vick. The dark horse will be either San Fran or Minnisota.
Enjoy Game 5 Tonight!!!
