Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place

For Christ sakes Sammy, MJ was simply trying to convince himself by singing that lyric over and over, to make a change in his life and stay away from inviting young boys to his house and giving them complimentary sips of 'Jesus Juice'. He didn't really mean to look in the mirror and change your physical appearance! WTF! Were you attempting to exfoliate and something went very wrong?
OK, I'm tired of the whole 'Yankees bought the championship thing.' It's garbage. The Yankees have spent the most money in baseball by a substantial margin over the past decade and haven't won much of anything since 2000. Yes, they are in position to win every year because they spend money, but it doesn't guarantee a championship....ever. So many factors come into play when you win a championship. Staying healthy, coming together as a team, clutch performances, not to mention spending money on the right players. The Yankees had that this year and with the money that they spend, it all came together. In my humble opinion, it's teams like Pittsburgh, Washington, Florida and San Diego that don't even spend $60K per year on payroll, that MLB has to do something about sooner than later. You can't have it. Either pony up the cash it takes to compete or get out fellas. I just don't see a salary cap ever happening in baseball, but if it did, I'd be all for it. However, a lot of Red Sox fans who complain about how much the Yankees spend blah blah.. might not be so happy with a salary cap. Boston spends more money than most of MLB on players and we also are in a great situation as fans. Boston has won two titles since 2004.. Who spent the most money those years on salary? Yup, New York. You can't just 'buy' a championship. The Red Sox are in position to win every year, just like New York and others. If a salary cap comes into play, it becomes a total organizational effort. Money alone won't be able to put you in position anymore.
Like everyone else, I'm intrigued by Adrian Gonzalez' name being mentioned in trade rumors and potentially coming to Boston. He is a tremendous talent. That being said, I just don't see him being moved before the trading deadline at earliest. The market for him will explode at that time and San Diego will be able to get so much more for him than they could now. It's almost that time of year where the hot stove gets fired up and we get a glimpse at what moves will be going down for the 2010 season.. I can't wait.

Also, is that picture of Sammy Sosa real? If so, I think he's trying to draw the attention back away from McGwire after he returned to baseball as a hitting coach.
Good stuff as always, works been hectic, haven't been able to read or even write much lately, hope all is well.

The pic of Sosa is real, yes. Apparently he's trying some skin rejuvenation routine and these are the consequences.
What I'm saying about the Yankees is, yes, they put themselves in position to win every year. More than everyone else in fact. I'll accept that, but that's all it is, is position. They have had the number one payroll in MLB for the past decade and haven't won since 2000, before this current one. So, you can't just buy titles. It's proven. It that was the case they'd win it every year, was the point I was making.

I understand you're saying having the highest payroll doesn't guarantee a championship, but you do have to spend in the top 5 area to do so, thus, buying championships does happen.

George Steinbrenner, after he and his group bought the Yanks for $10 million from Mike Burke, reasoned that if you spend money and give the fanatical New York fans the best product, they will support the team no matter the price of the tickets. He has parlayed this into his YES sports empire.
I've been a Yank fan for more than 58 years, and I raised my sons to be Yank fans. But, the games we enjoy most are those against the Sox; that is the greatest sports rivalry, not the World Series, the NBA Championship, the Stanley Cup, or anything else. Keep blogging; I enjoy your analysis.
