TCFB's Most Memorable Fall Classic Moments
October 28th 2009 13:18
The Fall Classic is upon us people and I was thinking about the 'most memorable' World Series moments since I've been alive and wanted to share my Top 3.. I fought with it but I can't count the Carlton Fisk HR in Game 6 of the '75 Series just because I was only about 3 days old at the time. These are moments that I clearly remember watching live, not on highlight shows etc..
#1) The 2004 flip from Keith Foulke to Dougie Mientkiewicz as the Red Sox 'erase the curse' and beat St. Louis to become champions for the first time in my lifetime. (and most of our lifetimes for that matter!)
#2) Buckner! Schiraldi! Stanley! Gedman! That's all I can say..
#3) Kirk Gibson limping up to the plate as an injured pinch hitter in Game 1 of 1988 World Series & homering off of Dennis 'Porn Stache' Eckersley, who was the best closer in baseball at the time bar-none. Yes, it was only Game 1 but what a moment and still to this day when somebody says the words 'World Series' this moment comes to mind.
Keep in mind, these are my personal Top 3 moments (good or bad) since I've been kickin' it on planet Earth! What are yours? Feel free to comment and share..
Chuck
