The Game Changer Comes Out of Nowhere

Most of the time, change happens gradually. Like a trickle of water turning its way into a river, things move into the future a little at a time. The changes are so small that you almost don’t notice them. That’s not the kind of change we’re here to talk about. We’re here to talk about Under Armor and Steph Curry kind of change. This is the kind of change that happens in an instant.

Everybody knows that the Golden State Warriors took it all in the last NBA season, with Steph Curry leading the way. In a performance that seemed unimaginable early in the his career, Steph Curry led his team to victory, with an average 29 points per game in the post season. These points were spread out across all kinds of play. He was pounding 3 pointers, displaying precision from mid and close range, and disrupting the competition on the defensive end. Curry was a leader on and off the court, and you can’t imagine the Warriors finding success without him.

But it wasn’t always this way. Remember when Curry first entered the league? Maybe you don’t, because it wasn’t that glorious. Most people who were paying attention expressed real doubts that Curry could make a difference in this league. Everybody had a reason why. Analysts said he was too short. Bloggers said he didn’t have the physical strength to compete. Haters gonna hate, apparently, because none of this seems to have diminished the player that Curry has grown into. Fulfilling all the scoring potential he displayed at Davidson, he has become one of the players who brings real excitement to the game.
