Manolith.com came out with their 'Top 10 Emmitt Smith Quotes' of all time, from his days on ESPN. This list came out back in February, but I was on their site the other day and I was flat out rolling at this timeless post.
I have to say... Emmitt, you were one hell of a great NFL running back. I loved watching you play the game. You were one tough and talented SOB with a strong desire to win at all costs, and you did just that when you played. I am a huge fan of yours and by all accounts you seem to be a great guy.
After football you won the hearts of American voters, as well as Carrie Ann Inaba, with your charismatic personality and some slightly above average dance moves on Dancing With The Stars. You beat out AC Slater, aka Mario Lopez, from Saved By The Bell, not because you were a better dancer, but because you were more likable and down to earth than that narcississtic serial infidel. How do you cheat on the voluptuous Dorito Girl, Ali Landry, about a week into your marriage to her, Mario? How, goddamn it?? Poor girl. Anyway, back to Emmitt. Kudos to you Emmitt for your top flight performance on DWTS.
One thing you never mastered, however, was the language of English. Dude, I understand, you can't be everything to everyone. You can't dominate in every task that you undertake in life. Nobody can. That said, English simply is not your forte, #22. My favorite Emitt-ism has to be 'BLOWED OUT'.... as in... “This kind of inconsistency play, going up against a team like New England, will get you completely BLOWED OUT.” There were some other gems, such as, "Sharp as a whistle" & "Rice of passage", but I asked myself, when you see Emmitt, what do you think? 'BLOWED OUT' just kept coming to the brain. Shit, I was on the phone with my buddy after the Pats destroyed the Jaguars a couple of weeks ago and I said to my buddy, 'damn those Jags got BLOWED OUT,' and we laughed, thinking of Emmitt. Emmitt's ESPN days will live on forever.
